The Spirit Animal Blog Award

I was nominated for this award by Charles French, a fellow blogger and most recently, a friend. Thank you, Charles, for nominating me. I’m truly humbled. You can follow his blog by clicking the link below. I assure you, you will not be disappointed. https://charlesfrenchonwordsreadingandwriting.wordpress.com

The Rules of the Award:

1.) Thank the blogger who nominated you, and link back to that page.

2.) Post the award picture on your blog.

3.) Write a short paragraph about yourself and what your blog means to you.

4.) If you could be any animal, what would you be?

5.) Pick and notify ten nominees.

Writing a short paragraph about myself is a tad difficult. I’m not one who likes the limelight, but I’ll give it a go.

I’m not college educated, like most of my blogging friends and authors. I met my husband, fell in love, had children and the rest is history. We’ve been happily married for sixteen years this March. I started writing years ago as a way to escape my life. Things were perfect on the home front, but I was diagnosed early on with dilated cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure. After receiving such news, I started journaling. Simple thoughts here and there; my frustrations, my sadness, worry over who would care for my children once I was gone. Things like that. It wasn’t long before writing became more than just journaling, however. Soon, characters and stories invaded my thoughts and so I began writing more and more, eventually coming to the realization that it was my true passion. I’ve been writing ever since.

My blog means the world to me. As a writer, I’ve learned fairly quickly that you need support. You need to surround youself with like-minded people who understand  the highs and lows, and are willing to take that roller coaster ride with you. I sincerely hope others take away good things from my blog, but I believe I’ve received ten-fold in return.

If I could be any animal it would be a dove. To me, a dove represents peace and calmness, something I strive for daily. I may fail, and often times I do, but I always try and treat others the way I’d like to be treated. A dove also sticks with its mate, which is rare these days. I’m a firm believer in God and His word, and take my vows to heart. It might sound silly to some, but my faith has gotten me through some very difficult times in my life; times that shouldn’t have been possible to walk through. So if I were a spirit animal, I would hope to be a dove.

My ten nominees are:

1) Jenn https://thethingsiyell.wordpress.com/

2) Tony http://tonysbologna.com

3) http://alittlebirdtweets.com/

4) Eve http://evemessenger.com

  1. Hi, I’m visiting from Charles’s award place 🙂

Your post is very touching. I hope you all the best.
And yes, I agree with you: blogging means a lot for a lot of writers, because we can create a tribe in the blogosphere that we would never be able to create in our everyday life. At leat, this is how it is for me.

    Congratulation for the award! 🙂
